Fariha Hossain is an Assistant Professor in SICCS at Northern Arizona University and the Director of the Clinical Vision and AI Lab (C-VAIL). Her research advances computer vision and deep learning for medical imaging, with expertise spanning multimodal imaging, generative models, knowledge distillation, and language-vision models that bridge visual and textual clinical data.

She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nevada, Reno under Dr. Alireza Tavakkoli and holds an M.S. in Data Science from Deakin University. Her work has been published in premier venues including MICCAI, and her research focuses on building AI systems that clinicians can understand, trust, and deploy in real-world healthcare settings. As Director of C-VAIL, she is committed to training the next generation of researchers who will shape the future of trustworthy AI in medicine.
