Fariha Hossain is an Assistant Professor in SICCS at Northern Arizona University and the Director of the Clinical Vision and AI Lab (C-VAIL). Her research advances computer vision and deep learning for medical imaging, with expertise spanning multimodal imaging, generative models, knowledge distillation, and adversarial robustness.
She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, under Dr. Alireza Tavakkoli, and holds an M.S. in Data Science from Deakin University and a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from BRAC University. Her NASA- and NSF-funded research has been published in venues including MICCAI, ICCV, and Nature Portfolio journals such as Scientific Reports and npj Microgravity, and she is a two-time Nevada Drive Doctoral Scholar. As Director of C-VAIL, she is committed to building AI systems that clinicians can understand, trust, and deploy in real-world healthcare settings, and to training the next generation of researchers who will shape the future of trustworthy AI in medicine.
